Leesburg, VA., January 13, 2010 – The Automotive Training Managers Council (ATMC) has introduced a new website with interactive features that will facilitate the sharing of information among its members and between the organization and the public. Visitors to the site at www.atmc.org will find a wealth of information about the ATMC, its members, events and mission, and can apply online for membership or register to participate in the organization's events throughout the year.

“This upgrade to the ATMC website has been in development for some time,” said Dave Milne, ATMC President. “We talked to our members to find out what they wanted in the ATMC website and based the new design on developing tools and features to enhance the value to both members and those seeking information about ATMC.” A new forum feature, plus a news blog page, will allow members to network with one another, sharing training methods and technical information. Members will also have the ability to retrieve research publications and other resources from the site.

“ATMC has reinvented itself over the past year,” said Corey Glassman, ATMC Chairman. “The new website is one of the first examples of how the leadership is working to deliver the latest information to help training providers keep abreast of changes in the methods, content and technology available to improve the training experience and effectiveness for automotive technicians worldwide.”

The Automotive Training Managers Council is a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of training and professional development within the automotive service industry. Founded in 1984 by original equipment and aftermarket automotive training professionals for the exchange of training ideas and strategies for both technical and sales/marketing training professionals, ATMC members are focused on improving the ROI, or “return on instruction” through networking and the sharing of ideas for more effective training performance. ATMC also provides a service to the industry through research and publications related to training and human performance technology issues in the automotive arena. For more information, visit the ATMC website at www.atmc.org.

Leesburg, VA., September 30, 2009 – The Automotive Training Managers Council (ATMC) Fall meeting in Atlanta celebrated the organization’s 25th Anniversary and marked a milestone as the leadership announced a new structure and governance for the group. ATMC membership approved a change in the bylaws to allow the shift to governance by a Board of Directors and created the new staff position of ATMC President. The Board approved the selection of David Milne to fill the president’s position. Milne will assume his ATMC responsibilities in addition to his duties with the ASE Test Development staff. ASE provides management services for ATMC.

ATMC Officers include Chairman Corey Glassman, Fluke Corporation; Vice Chairman Stefan Baier (TTi), Treasurer John Saia (Toyota), and Secretary Tim Zilke (ASE). In addition to the officers, the ATMC Board of Directors includes Bobby Bassett (Gates), Rod Boyes (Melior), Al Ebron, (NAFTC), Steve Lee (Lincoln Tech), Byron Morgan, (Hunter Engineering),  Darrell Rowe (Bridgestone Firestone) and Paul Seidel, (Delta College).

“ATMC has updated its bylaws and governance to better serve its members,” said Milne. “This new structure will allow for more strategic direction from the Board of Directors and a more efficient management structure to better execute the ATMC mission and improve the value of ATMC to its membership.”

Members attending the September meeting in Atlanta participated in presentations detailing Adult Learning Methods and an exercise to help better define their individual management style. A panel discussion made up of training managers from the retail, fleet and manufacturer segments offered insight into the minds of ATMC customers and sparked a discussion within the group, while a popular presentation by John Saia detailed Toyota’s training philosophy and methods and provided many of what Saia called “nuggets” for members to take away. A final presentation by representatives of the Georgia Board of Education outlined the challenges and opportunities at the secondary and post-secondary educational levels. Attendees gave the meeting content high marks.
